The Role:
Catalyx is a trusted partner in delivering world-class lifecycle services to regulated and high-risk end markets. The position provides direct engineering support to packaging operations for commercial pharmaceutical products, including drug substance, sterile filling, packaging, and labelling processes.
Responsibilities:
Deliver technical engineering support to packaging and labelling operations, with a focus on equipment performance, recipe standardisation, troubleshooting, and process improvement.
Act as the engineering representative on cross-functional packaging operations teams, contributing to the reliable supply of commercial products.
Hold system ownership for packaging equipment and related automation, ensuring robust and compliant operation.
Act as engineering system owner on key capital projects related to packaging capacity expansion, providing subject matter expertise on equipment design, qualification, process development, and GMP readiness.
Manage equipment recipe updates to support artwork revisions, new product introductions, and technology transfers.
Lead or contribute to root cause investigations for equipment-related issues; ensure effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) are implemented.
Participate in and lead cross-functional problem-solving initiatives, applying structured methodologies such as DMAIC, SMED, and FMEA to drive continuous improvement.
Support knowledge development within the operations and engineering teams through coaching and mentoring on packaging processes and systems.
Collaborate with serialisation experts to ensure compliance with evolving global traceability and packaging requirements.
Engage in cross-functional project teams, ensuring engineering input is clearly reflected in project deliverables and aligned with site and business needs.
Ensure all work is performed in compliance with internal policies, regulatory standards, and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
Maintain and update relevant documentation in line with quality systems and regulatory expectations.
Promote a culture of right-first-time execution, lean manufacturing, and operational excellence.
Champion high standards of quality, safety, and compliance across all engineering and manufacturing activities.
Stay current on industry developments through continued professional education, workshops, and networking.
Undertake additional duties as required in support of engineering and operational goals.
Requirements:
Degree in Engineering (Process, Chemical, Mechanical, or related field).
Additional training in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or equivalent methodologies highly desirable.
Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment, preferably within pharmaceutical or biotechnology sectors.
Strong problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
