Catalyx is seeking a Lab Automation Engineer to join our team and work for our newly established team who are based on our customer site in Cork.

The Role:

Responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation, integration, and day-to-day operation of lab automation systems across QC and analytical testing environments.

  • Provide technical support for lab instrumentation such as UPLC, HPLC, and automated liquid handlers, ensuring proper configuration and functionality.

  • Assist in the setup and optimisation of lab scheduling tools (e.g., Green Button Go, BIOCERO) and their integration with lab instruments and data systems.

  • Execute and support equipment qualification and validation activities (URS, IQ, OQ), ensuring compliance with GAMP 5, 21 CFR Part 11, and internal procedures.

  • Liaise with cross-functional teams including IT, QA, and lab operations to troubleshoot issues, support change controls, and ensure smooth system operation.

  • Maintain and improve data integrity workflows across platforms such as Empower, NuGenesis, and LIMS.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts in lab automation and digitalisation initiatives.

  • Support documentation activities including system assessments, risk assessments, SOPs, and validation reports.


Requirements:

  • 2–5 years’ experience in a lab automation, systems support, or CSV role within a GxP-regulated environment.

  • Hands-on experience with lab instruments and software such as UPLC/HPLC systems, Empower, or liquid handling platforms.

  • Familiarity with lab scheduling tools and their integration into lab workflows (experience with Green Button Go or BIOCERO is a plus).

  • Solid understanding of computer system validation principles and relevant regulatory standards (e.g., 21 CFR Part 11, GAMP 5).

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with an ability to work across functions.

  • Excellent documentation skills and attention to detail.

  • Effective communicator with a proactive, collaborative approach.
