Catalyx is seeking an Automation Project Lead to join our team and work for our newly established team who are based on our customer site in Cork.

The Role:

This join our newly created team focused on delivering an end-to-end proof of concept for lab testing automation, with strong potential to scale up in the future.

This position sits at the intersection of automation, CSV, and lab systems. The successful candidate will lead project delivery, manage qualification and validation activities, and coordinate across internal teams, global sites, and external vendors.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the setup and delivery of local lab automation proof-of-concept projects.

  • Manage equipment qualification and software validation activities in GxP environments.

  • Evaluate and challenge software solutions for compliance, functionality, and integration.

  • Oversee and execute change controls for new automation systems.

  • Act as the technical lead for automation implementation and integration planning.

  • Engage with global teams to align on automation approaches and learnings.

  • Coordinate with vendors for system specifications, configuration, and testing.

  • Define and document user requirements, validation protocols, and project deliverables.

  • Support troubleshooting, deviation resolution, and continuous improvement activities.

  • Ensure all work aligns with GxP, data integrity, and regulatory expectations.

 


Requirements:

  • Experience in lab automation, CSV, or IT roles within GxP environments.

  • Proven experience with equipment qualification and system validation.

  • Strong knowledge of data integrity, Annex 11, and 21 CFR Part 11.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead automation projects from concept through to delivery.

  • Comfortable managing change controls and external stakeholder engagement.

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently.

  • Thrives in fast-paced, regulated, and cross-functional environments.

Nice to have / Useful Technologies: (But Not Essential)

  • Exposure to lab scheduling tools (e.g. Green Button Go, BIOCERO).

  • Familiarity with systems such as BIOVIA, Elims, Empower, or Tecan platforms.

  • Programming experience (Python, R, LabVIEW) for automation or data workflows.
