Catalyx is seeking an Automation Lead to work onsite in our office in Mechelen, Belgium.
Who We Are :
Catalyx specializes in the science of operational processes. With a footprint across North America and Europe, the company carefully automates and services R&D, production, packaging, and delivery processes—globally—with a sophisticated blend of products, technologies, and lifecycle services. The company was formed in 2022 after CXV Global (Crest Solutions, Xyntek, and VistaLink) and Panacea Technologies joined forces. For over three decades, Catalyx’s partnership-based culture has helped organizations in production-intense, highly regulated industries optimize their operational efficiency, performance, and safety. Now part of a larger global organization, we continue to deliver high-quality, innovative solutions to customers throughout the region. We specialize in machine vision technology, helping clients in various industries improve their processes, enhance quality control, and increase operational efficiency.
The Role :
The Automation Lead will manage and lead a team of technical installation and project engineers, playing a key role in ensuring the successful delivery of customer-facing automation projects. Although a separate project management team handles direct project oversight, the Automation Lead will work closely with Project Managers, providing technical leadership, ensuring that all engineering work is well-planned, and maintaining focus on quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. This hands-on role requires expertise in machine vision, a "right-first-time" approach, and experience in regulated environments.
Responsibilities and Tasks :
Team Leadership: Lead and develop a team of technical installation and project engineers, ensuring effective collaboration and alignment with company objectives.
Collaboration with Project Management: Work closely with the project management team to ensure engineering work is well-coordinated and projects are delivered on time and within scope. Provide technical input to help prioritize and manage project schedules.
Engineering & Project Coordination: Oversee the planning, installation, and commissioning of machine vision systems, ensuring high-quality execution, safety, and compliance with regulatory standards.
Customer Engagement: Act as the primary technical contact for customers, ensuring their requirements are met and challenges resolved in collaboration with the project management team.
Compliance & Continuous Improvement: Implement and refine processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety within the engineering function, particularly in regulated environments (e.g., pharmaceuticals, automotive).
Experience and Skills Required:
· Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related fields.
· 5+ years of hands-on experience in technical leadership roles, preferably in automation, machine vision, or regulated industries.
· Fluency in Dutch is essential; proficiency in French is highly desirable.
· Strong ability to collaborate with Project Managers, provide technical input, and help align engineering activities with project timelines.
· Proven track record managing customer-facing projects, with a focus on schedule prioritization, CSAT, quality, and safety.
· Practical knowledge of machine vision technologies, including cameras, sensors, and related software platforms preferred.
· Familiarity with ISO/QMS standards and compliance an advantage
· Experience in regulated environments, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
· Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience fostering a high-performance engineering culture.
· Willingness to travel across Belgium and Europe for customer site visits.
